Keeping you and your data safe
By Cyberfunk on Saturday June 09, 2012

In the last week there has been a lot of talk about security and security breeches. This time a pair of highly-public social sites were hit; LinkedIn and eHarmony.

Both of them let someone in and download millions of passwords. While each of these websites did encrypt the passwords, they didn't take the extra step in what's called "salting" the password. "Salting" is the act of adding extra text to the information to be encrypted text so that the bad guys can't just do a lookup and know that if the encoded text is "abcd1234" then the real text is "mysecret".

PolyMatchMaker makes sure to "salt" all passwords to keep them safe. We have a number of measures in place to help prevent break-ins and data theft. While we know that no system is perfect, we are always concerned with protecting our members.

Thank you,
